The United States Christian Commission was re-founded by the John Wega and his family after uncovering this buried history. Over the last seven years of intense research and collection of U.S.C.C. artifacts they opened the first museum in America to tell this story of Christian Heroism during the civil war. All of the family members play a role in telling this American Christian Heritage story.

(L to R) Carman, Samson, Susan, Faith, and John Wega

John is the founder of the modern U.S. Christian Commission and is a historian and chaplain for the organization. John is available for speaking engagements including civil war round tables, men’s conferences, living history events and chapel services.

Susan is Director of the U.S.C.C. Museum and conducts passionate living history presentations of the museum for families and tour groups. She also is a living historian and represents the U.S.C.C. in a variety of venues. Her knowledge and heart personify the original heroes of the U.S. Christian Commission, as she continues their work. Susan is available for presentations and women’s conferences.

Samson is a living historian that represents a common civil war soldier. Samson has participated in many national re enactments and performed living history for the Gettysburg National Military park. He has been a part of many conferences and currently conducts “Soldier Demonstrations” for school groups and conferences. Please go to the tour offering pages to book Samson for part of your Gettysburg experience.

Carman and Faith play roles as musicians and period attired Museum staff. Both participate in living history events and the work of the U.S.C.C.

The Wega family is dedicated to sharing the story of the original U.S. Christian Commission and continuing their work today. The story of Christian Heritage in America has been left out of most modern text books and history books. Your trip to Gettysburg is incomplete without learning the aspect of faith and the passion and reverence of the “Hallowed Ground”.
